I never imagined I would one day stand on a TEDx stage or train professionals at leading companies. My journey began in linguistics, the science of language. From the start, I was fascinated not only by grammar but by the deeper mystery of meaning: how do people say one thing but mean another, and why do words sometimes build harmony while other times they create conflict?
As a young scholar, I gravitated toward pragmatics—the study of language in context. I wanted to uncover the invisible rules of communication: speech acts, politeness strategies, and the subtle ways tone and silence shape outcomes. This path eventually led me to pursue my master’s degree at the University of Queensland, Australia, where I deepened my understanding of language and culture.
Linguistics gave me the tools to analyze communication scientifically. It allowed me to see patterns in everyday interaction that most people miss.
But as I grew as a lecturer and professional, I realized something important: knowing the science of language is not enough. Many brilliant people—students, professionals, even senior leaders—struggled not because they lacked ideas, but because they could not lead through their words.
This realization shifted my focus. I began teaching and training in leadership communication, where linguistic theory meets real-world practice. My academic background helps me explain not only what works in communication, but also why it works.
My work as a trainer and speaker has taken me far beyond the classroom. I have been invited to deliver training and seminars for Pertamina, PLN, Medco Energy, Telkomsel, ANSAF, JCLEC and many other institutions. Each experience confirmed that leadership rises or falls on communication—the ability to inspire trust, deliver a mission, and move people into action.
I also had the privilege of sharing my ideas on the TEDx stage, where I spoke about communication as a transformative force. These platforms gave me the opportunity to translate my passion for linguistics into impact for wider audiences.
Beyond teaching and training, I write. My books include “Superlearner”, a practical guide for students and professionals to maximize their learning, and “Linguistic Politeness in Online Communication”, a research-based exploration of how people negotiate politeness in digital interaction. Writing allows me to connect theory with practice and to leave something lasting for future learners.
Today, I see myself as a bridge between linguistic theory and leadership practice. The insights of Austin, Searle, Grice, and Brown & Levinson are still at the core of my work, but I bring them into boardrooms, classrooms, and training halls—where leaders need communication that is clear, persuasive, and inspiring.
Linguistics shaped how I understand the world. Leadership communication has become my mission. I help leaders and professionals speak with clarity, listen with empathy, persuade with integrity, and use words that truly move people.
Leadership communication is not a soft skill. It is the foundation of success in education, business, government, and family life. I studied linguistics to understand how humans use language. I teach leadership communication because I believe that words are leadership—and the right words can transform people, organizations, and futures.
